The Referee team of Gary, Kathy and Mark will continue for this coming season in 2009. However, there is a change afoot.
Gary has been involved with Windsor Soccer in one capacity or another for more than a decade but 2009 will be his last season as the overall Referee Coordinator. Kathy and Mark will continue. We would like to recruit an Adult volunteer to replace Gary for the 2010 season. We know that this is giving a long period of advance notice but if someone expressed an interest just now, it would be beneficial for that person to work alongside Gary during this 2009 season to learn the role.
An outline of the job responsibilities are as follows:
1. Official Ref Coordinator
acts as liaison to the Board
attends Board meetings
represents refs perspective to Board
shares Boards decisions with broader ref community
engages with CYSA District 5 on all Referee matters; may involve attending workshops, organizing New Ref and Refresher Ref classes and other activities
sits in on all New Ref and Refresher Ref classes as official WYSL representative
2. Provides leadership and guidance to the Ref Co-coordinating team (ie Kathy and Mark)
3. Provides mentorship to new and existing Referees in Windsor
4. Responsible for quality and performance of Referees
5. Engages with Coaches before and during the season
6. A member of the Disciplinary Committee for Windsor Soccer
7. Lead person when organizing Refs for any Tournaments and regular season
8. Available to be present at the Fields most weekends to observe Ref performance and to manage any issues that arise
